Unprofessional and Dismissive Service from Pharmacist Manoj at Al Maqsha. (Including mine, there are 5 poor reviews on the pharmacy in the past year!!)
I am extremely disappointed by the rude and deeply unprofessional treatment I received this morning at the Ruyan Pharmacy Al Maqsha branch from the pharmacist on duty, Manoj.
I handed over a prescription for Ozempic and requested two ice packs, as I am about to travel abroad. The pharmacist on duty, Manoj, immediately made it feel as though helping me was a massive chore. He displayed a complete lack of effort and enthusiasm, seemingly annoyed at the request. He made absolutely no attempt to go and fetch the Ozempic; instead, he was just standing there, staring at the prescription without moving an inch. His attitude and the way he just stood there staring made me feel as though he was questioning the validity of the prescription itself. While doing this, he began speaking to a colleague in his own language. When I asked if there was an issue, he immediately started talking over me before I could even finish my sentence, aggressively trying to force his point across. I straight up told him that I found his behaviour extremely rude.
To make matters worse, he informed me that they only had heavy ice bricks available for prescriptions and that the standard gel packs were only for sale. At that point, because of his awful attitude, I was definitely not going to make a purchase from him. I asked him to call another branch to find out if they had Ozempic available instead. He did make the call and confirmed that the other branch had stock.
This wasn’t my first encounter with this unacceptable attitude. Last week, I called this exact branch to enquire about Optavid eye drops. While I didn’t catch the name then, the voice and the impatient, dismissive tone matched the pharmacist on duty, Manoj, perfectly. When he told me they were out of stock, I tried to clarify if they were unavailable across all Ruyan branches or just this one. Instead of answering professionally, he repeatedly talked over me, barking, “Out of stock, out of stock, out of stock!”
When I brought up this phone call to him today, his response was a smug and arrogant, “Oh really? I only work here once a week.”
My own mother is a pharmacist, and I have never seen her—or any decent medical professional—behave in such an appalling manner. People seeking medical advice or medication expect a basic level of empathy and patience, qualities he entirely lacks. He is clearly in the wrong profession. I strongly suggest management sends him for urgent customer service training, as his current attitude is a disgrace to the title of ‘pharmacist’. I will certainly be asking friends to check in on this branch to see if his behaviour improves, but for now, I am thoroughly disappointed.
